Winter nature watching tour “ To the frozen world” ended.

We had taken Sounkyo Visitor Center winter nature watching tour since Jan 15th.We ended on Feb 27th.

Thank you for your joining our tour in Corona disaster.We will have this tour again next year.
Someone who wanted to join our lecture in this season, we are looking forward to meeting you next winter.

About next year’s nature watching tour, we will let you know after April.

Center lecture

Snow-shoe hiking
Since middle of January we have done snow-shoe hiking in every weekends.
We will end these hiking this weekend (2/26 2/27).
As we told you this year’s icefall is the best in the last 5 years.
You can still participate, please call us!

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus infection, please wear musk and measure body temperature.
When you feel sick, please decline participation.
Please drive the place where we have a lecture by yourself.

Please call us from 9 to 17 o’clock by the day before.

Notice

From the middle of February, highest temperature in daytime arise around 0℃ in Sounkyo. Like I said, route is from view point to Kogennotaki waterfall because of plenty water. Moreover, it might be difficult to pass Obako route when water level become very high. In that case, we well move up observing walk which conducts until 2/27. We recommend to participate as soon as possible.
Inquiry, applications are only on the phone and please book from 9 am to 5 pm (Every Monday is day off).

Sounkyo is getting brighter to become spring from this month. Even tough Measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus has been adopted, observing walk is conducting. In principle, you need to go to the destination by your car when you come Visitor Center.
By the way, passing point near Obako bridge has been flooded due to water level is higher than usual. Therefore, Obako route start from view point to along mainstream which is round trip to Kogennotaki waterfall. In case of more to increase water level , alternative route will be chosen.
ice-pillars in Niseycaromap are very beautiful since 2017-2018 and I believe it is really enjoyable.
Observing walk conducts every Saturday and Sunday until 2/27 without national holiday.
