Visitor Center Report

It has been cold and windy since end of May.
We went up Mt.Kurodake to check how much snow remain on the trail course.

This year’s remaining snow is less than usual year.
But you have to walk on snow from the trail head at 7th station as usual.
And amount of snow is less, around 9th sign pole is out of snow.

You have to walk on very steep snow slope to the top.
Today in the early morning I went up kicking and stepping.
We recommend you to use crampons when you take the first ropeway.
If you are not used to hiking on the snow, please refrain hiking.

Around Kurodake ishimuro Hut snow is melting.
Kurodake Ishimuro Hut will open on June 18th.
Caping site has no snow.
But toilet is closed, bring portable toilet by yourself.
About water
You can use snow or bring.

From the junction Kurodake Ishimuro to Akaishi river or to Kumonodaira
A wide snow field is spreading.
When you go to Mt.hakuunndake , you need GPS or application of map and check where you are.

The weather forecast says that the cold weather continues for a week.
Please bring something warm to wear like winter season, have a good hiking.

Yesterday Kurodake pair lift started summer summerbusiness.

From 5th station to the 7th station snow is melting.
But from 7th station to the top there is a lot of snow on hiking trail.
And more “Kamui no michi hiking course” is closed now.

From 7th station observation deck you will see wonderful view.
A store at the 7th station is opened.

A wonderful mountain view and cute flowers “Heloniopsis orientalis” are waiting for you at the Mt.Kurodake 7th station.

Now Momiji dani hiking course is good condition without snow.
In these days it was warm, so some flowers start blooming.

At Momijidani hiking course you will feel power of forest.
We would like you to visit Sounkyo and Momijidani hiking course.

“Cerasus nipponica var. kurilensis (Miyabe) H.Ohba” is blooming at 5th station of Mt.Kurodake.
It bloomed the last in Japan.

Around 5th station “Rhododendron dauricum” and “Potentilla matsumurae” and another alpine plants start blooming one and another.


Kurodake pair lift that is under construction starts to operate on Jun 1st.

Please come to Mt.Kurodake and see fresh green and beautiful flowers!

Flower season has come in Momijidani.
“Anemone flaccida”, “Anemone debilis”, “Trillium tschonoskii ”, “Viola selkirkii Pursh ex Goldie f. lacinaata ”, “Oxalis acetosella”, “Menziesia pentandra”, “Rhododendron albrechtii”
“Corydalis fumariifolia subsp. azurea” are blooming now.

In Momijidani cute and tiny flowers are blooming one after another.

Shall we go watching and seeingflowers and very refreshing Momiji fall?
