Snowy gorges on the Mt. Aka course

Around here it has been hot days.
But the trekking road in Mt.Akadake has still snow.
The first and the second flower garden , Okuno-taira and the third snow gorge are all covered with snow.

Most of snow gorge are getting hard.
When in low temperature , you need crampons(if you are not used to walking on the snow.)
Around Hakuunn hut there is snow.
The bottom of Itagaki-shindou snow melted.
Around camiping area there is no snow.
Sometimes melting water flow into camp area, please take care

Blooming news around Mt.Akadake and Mt.koizumi

Here one week rapid temperature change made flowers near the range bloomed at once.
The best blooming has come.
Dicentra peregrina of Komakusa-taira, Dryas octopetala var. asiatica of koizumi-taira
And Lagotis yesoensis are now on the best time.


In Koizumi-taira Oxytropis japonica var. sericea (now on the best)
Pedicularis oederi subsp. Heteroglossa and viola crassa makino(starts blooming)
Many flowers blooming in profusion.
  • The plants are open and almost in full bloom.

Mt. Midori snow report

in half way up of Mt.Midori-dake snow is melting more quickly than we thought.
The first flower garden the wood walking path showed up.
Only edge side has 150m snow.

Middle part from the first garden to the second garden snow melted as photo shows.
Meltwater is flooding and make the small water falls.
When you walk here, please walk not to step on flowers.
In the second garden upper side and lower side there is 20m trekking path showed up.
It divides snow gorge.
Please walk following paint sign.
Near the rock place “Eiko no sawa” snow melted.
You can walk easily.
ESS( Green Support Staff) says that many brown bear families are seen many times.
If you walk, be sure to bring the bells and whistle and walk carefully.
  • Ursus arctos yesonesis have been sighted. Those planning to enter the mountains should take all necessary precautions.

About Akaisi river
You can walk over the river.
It seems there is much water than common year.

After passing by the river, snow gorge is hard to walk.
Today’s hikers put crampons here.
Snow surface is getting hard, pay attention not to fall down and slip to enter the river.
Snow gorge on the other side of river ,this afternoon we made stairs on the snow.
