It has been cold.
But in a few days temperature in the afternoon is not so cold.

The amount of snow is as much as last year’s.
January and February are very cold, freezing.
“Momijidani valley” that is famous walking trail in Sounnkyo,
We found “Frost flower” and” frost column” that is one of Sounkyo winter features.
“Frost flowers” have a lot of shapes.
This is very hard and basic shapes that we have seen with microscope.
“Frost column is getting longer, round.
Sounkyo is really cold, but we love to feel the air of nature and watch these beautiful ice.

Today is beautiful sunny day!!
We were looking forward to sunny days for a long time.
This morning was very cold.
The minimum temperature was -17℃ in the early morning in front of Visiter center.
Now is -10℃. It’s like being in the freezer.
This cold makes us Sounkyo gorge and Daisetuzan mountains range more beautiful.
The weather forecast says tomorrow will get colder.
When you visit Sounkyo, please warm yourself up.
Yesterday it was heavy snow.
We got 28 cm snow deep in Sounkyo.
This year has also much snow.

We wish a Happy New Year.
This year we keep trying that you will like and enjoy wild nature

Today the snow lay 350cm at the 7th station of Mt. Kurodake.
This is about 20cm much than last year’s.
Here in Sounkyo the amount of snow is about 200cm.
This is as same as last year’s.
From now the temperature is getting colder.
Actually we don’t want much snow.
