Today in Sounkyo is calm and nice day.
Early morning the temperature was -12℃.
It is freezing!
In winter almost everyday we shovel snow, but today we did not do it.
On the 7th station of Mt.Kurodake has have 300cm snow deep!
That is much than last year’s.
We are worry about the weather.

“Frost flower” has bloomed.
In Sounkyo winter is extreme cold, but it sometimes gives us beautiful gifts like “Frost flower”.
We are happy to find them.

In December today is also snowy day.
In November the amount of snow is about 200cm.
It is about 20cm less than last year’s.

This year fortunately “Sorbus commixta” have left.
It is good for wild birds.
“Pinicola enucleator “ has come down to the bottom of the mountains.
In winter they come down to the plains, they are about 10. (males and females are mixed.)

Today’s Sounkyo is very windy and snowstorm.
Rope way can’t service because of this wind.
One day is warm and the other day is snowy,
This is peculiar weather in Sounkyo.
This snow must stay until spring.
The amount of snowfall is about 200cm(only in November).
This year’s snow is about 20cm less than last year’s.
The snow deep is 60 cm.
This is as much as last year.
Even though “Winter” has just started. We feel like “Midwinter”.

Today the temperature is rising.
Just now It is 6°.

I saw + temperature after a long time.
The snow that had been falling until yesterday started melting.
We are worry about the snow on the roof.
On the other hand at the 7th station of Mt.Kurodake the snow is 230cm deep!
Snow fell 40cm.
This year’s amount of snow overtakes last year.
