Temperature is still under 0°c in the morning and at night.
It is often rising up to over 0°c in the afternoon.
Weather forecast says that it will be cold day that is under 0°c, snowy.
Spring has not come yet.
Gradually snow is melting.

The sap of maple tree is dropping to be icicle by the coldness in the morning and night.
Many wild birds ,” Martes zibellina brachyura”, “Sciurus vulgaris orientis” and foxes come to lick them.
You can find “Sap Icicle “easily.
It is getting warm, shall we go out and do nature observation?

Sciurus vulgaris orientis

Temperature is 0°c now.
It is getting warm in the afternoon.
“Sciurus vulgaris orientis” in the picture was licking sap of maple tree.
This sap is little bit sweet.
Many wild birds come and lick.
After snow melt, and sap drip to the ground, “Ant” come and lick.

The forecast predicts higher temperatures for today.

Now temperature is already 8°c.
It will be over 10°c, weather forecast says.
But wind is strong, it feel very chilly.
This strong wind will melt snow, I think.

After this warm day, it will be cold again.
Temperature will be under -10°c in the morning and at night.
But daytime will be warm.
By repeating warm days and cold days spring will come soon.

These warm days make them active.

Bird watching

It has been extreme cold.
For trees spring has come a little early.
Sap of Birch and Maple started dripping.
It is made by decline of temperature in the day and night.
It is called “sap icicles”

“Poecile montanus (Conrad von Baldenstein, 1827” and many wild birds fly to sap icicles as if competing with one another.

As it is getting warm, we will see “Sciurus vulgaris orientis” linking sap.
