Visitor Center Report

We feel spring in Sounkyo.
We have a good news for everyone.
“Sounkyo VR 360” begins operation on April 1st at Sounkyo visitor center.
As a pre-open, we open to public Virtual Reality system that we don’t touch any monitor.
With this system, we can see a 360 degrees view of Daisetsuzan.
(We will begins operation Virtual Reality with VR goggles soon.)

Specifically:
“Welcome to Daisetsuzan National Park”
That is concentrated a lot of fascinating views in Daisetsuzan into 7 minutes 50seconds.

“VR Sky Walk”
You can feel flying like a bird and see Daisetuzan and Sounkyo gorge.

“VR virtual trekking in main Daisetsuzan”
You can walk main trekking course in Daisetsuzan with guide’s talking.

“Experience Sounkyo Activity”
We introduce Activities in Sounkyo expect for summer trekking.

“The Origin of Sounkyo gorge”
We tell how Sounkyo gorge was made.

“360 degrees view at the peak & magnificent views”
You experiment 25 view points around Mt.Kurodake with 360 degrees view.
You enjoy 13 contents.

We continue to take strict measures to prevent the outbreak.

You know, there are a lot of snow at the mountains.
Day by day snow is melting, but it still snows at the high mountains.

Weather forecast says that it will snow at the foot of mountains.
Winter is back, spring comes like seesaw, and then spring will come.

Today is the final day in 2020 season.

Day by day snow is melting.
Weather forecast says that it will be warm, temperature will be over 10°c.

Weather in Sounkyo is very unstable, but snow on the gorge started melting, it is getting spring. We found “Japanese butterbur scape” in the place where the snow melted.
Wild birds tasted a sweet “sap icicle” that is made by cold temperature in the morning and at night.

Recently day time temperature is almost over 0°c.
It is about 1°c~5°, but it is getting warmer!!
Wild birds is getting active.
Today we came across “Megaceryle lugubris” around Ishikari river.
His voice is very characteristic, high-pitched voice.
In that day he dived into the river to catch the fish.
“Megaceryle lugubris” falls his far to the river deliberately, fish misunderstand it bait, and he gets fish, we heard.

Day by day season is changing spring.
We recommend to go out to field to see birds, trees, flowers and feel nature.
