Mt.Kurodake snow report
The thaw is going on.
Near the 7th station sign pole there is 2m snow only.
Passing 8th station sign pole there is no snow on the trail.
But there are snow three place.
Snow is melting and trail is muddy and slippery.
Watch your step.
A lot of number and kinds of flowers are blooming.
“Weigela middendorffiana” that form a big community is getting the best time to see partly.
Some flower are dying because of heavy rain.
There are many buds.
For a while you can see beautiful flowers.

From Kougen onsen to Mt.Midoridake
Snow on the trail is melting gradually.

At Daiichi Hanabatake there is no snow on wooden trail except the edge.

At Daini Hanabatake wooden trail at the bottom is 60% appeared.
From the middle point to Eiko no sawa you have to walk on the snow.
At Palm tree area most of trail has no snow like summer, but you have to walk on snow once.
From Mt.Midoridake to Mt.Koizumidake “Dryas octopetala”is going to peak to bloom.

Near the Mt. Hakuun hut

As announced before, Mt.Hakuunndake Refuse Hut is under the rebuilding now.

July 3rd and 4th Construction material and Construction equipment or machine were unloaded.
July 7th they teared down the old hut.
As shown in photo ① most space of camping ground are occupied by construction material.
There are only 10 camping sites.
And also temporary hut is there, but only a few people can stay.
Thinking capacity of tent sites and hut, it is difficult to stay Mt.Hakuun Hut on the weekend.
If you plan to traverse mountains, please rebuild your hiking plan.

As shown in photo ② some construction machines are working.
So it is very dangerous, do not come close to these machine.

Hikers can use toilet.
But sometimes Hikers can not use it when construction machine is working near the toilet.
Please bring disposable toilet.

◎Hakuundake Refuge Hut Rebuild
From the end of June till beginning of October 2020, the Hakuundake Refuge Hut will be undergoing a full rebuild. Accommodation is by camping only, and hikers are asked not to use the campground on (and the day preceding) weekends and public holidays, as camping space will be severely limited.
You can use toilet, but bring disposable toilet bag.

We told that before, there is a few camping site, only 10 sites.
Prepare a relax plan and go hiking safety.

Mt.Kurodake  snow and flower report
Mt.Kurodake at the 7th station had about 400cm snow the beginning of May.
That is much snow than same day last year. (Last year had 330cm snow.)

In the middle of June it was extremely hot.
The temperature was over 30°c level on flat ground.
This temperature effected mountain district, snow is melting quickly.
(Now snow on the trail is almost same as usual year.)

From the trail head to 8th station snow remained intermittently.
There is 2m snow below the summit.
When going down, watch your step.
The road is very slippery.
Around 9th station flowers are blooming.
You will see many kinds of flower and a lot of numbers of flower.
Especially “Weigela middendorffiana” started blooming.
In a few days it will full bloom.
As shown in the picture, around Kumono taira “Rhododendron aureum” is the best time to see.
“Geum pentapetalum” blooms in community.
*Akaishi river Snow bridge fell down, you walk in the river and you can walk on the stones.
*Snow below the junction of Mt.Hokuchindake The trail is very steep and slippery.
