Now temperature is already 8°c.

It has been extreme cold.
For trees spring has come a little early.
Sap of Birch and Maple started dripping.
It is made by decline of temperature in the day and night.
It is called “sap icicles”

“Poecile montanus (Conrad von Baldenstein, 1827” and many wild birds fly to sap icicles as if competing with one another.

As it is getting warm, we will see “Sciurus vulgaris orientis” linking sap.

Today is beautiful blue sky.
Sounkyo gorge is covered with snow.
It is so beautiful.
Yesterday’s amount of snow was 24cm.(Japan Meteorological Agency)
This year’s snow?
The depth of snow is 120cm, the same day in last year was 117cm.
The depth of snow is same.
The amount of snow is about 600cm (November to yesterday)
The same day in last year was about 580cm .
This year is more snow than last year.

At the mountains we don’t know how much snow there is.
because Mt.Kurodake ski area is closed.
We hope snow will fall less than usual year.

In February it has been not good.
One day is heavy snow, the other day is windy.
These weather is usual in Sounkyo, but there have been rainy days this winter.

The other day precipitation amount per a day got second place in recorded history.
First place was 54mm in1994
6 records within 10th place is after 2000.

Over 30cm snow and over 30mm rain amount are really hard for those thin legs.
