Daisetsu Kogen-numa

Numa-meguri hiking trail opened.
Kougen-onsen brown bear information center opened.
The bridge at Yanbetappu was built, and Numa-meguri course opened.
Although due to last year’s typhoon attacks , the trail course along the river is not planned to recover.
This season hikers cannot walk through the course, can only go to Kara-numa .
From the entrance to Yanbetappu bridge we can see the trail course ,after that the trail
course is under the snow. Hikers must walk on the snow from Dohyou-numa marsh.
Dohyou-numa, Takimi-numa, Midori-numa Yuno-numa Ezo-numa marsh is seen the water surface. The other marshes are under the deep snow.
Mikasa-sindou is open now.
If red bears are seen, the course will close .
More over hikers can walk until Kougen-numa marsh and walk back.
Until autumnal tints season hikers cannot go to Kara-numa marsh .
“Kara “ means empty in Japanese, in summer the water of Kara-numa is going to empty,so we call Kara-numa.
Kara-numa is the best view season with fresh green reflecting water surface.

Hikers enter the course from 7:00 to 13:00 and leave until 3:00.
After 13:00 hikers do not enter the couse!
  • Climb safely by allowing plenty of time.

Mt. Kurodake’s northeastern face

Snow continues melting, in some place we can see the trekking route, but all trekking couse is under the snow.
All slant face hikers keep your mind to the danger of sliding down and becoming lost .
And also sometimes there is a large space beneath snow as more snow melts,if you hike through snowy gorges in such areas ,you may fall and sustain serious injuries.
Hikers need crampon,we do not recommend to climb if you are beginner or not used to walk on the snow.
(Every year many sliding down accidents happen)
  • Take care to avoid slipping and falling.
