Mt.Akadake trail report

At Daiichi kaen
All the trees are covered with snow.
We were worried that trees fell their leaves.
After snow is gone, some leaves are red.
But leaves will turn bad color and fall/

At Daini kaen
“Geum pentapetalum” in okunodaira is beautiful red.
There is 30m snow in Okunodaira.
And more upper trail is perfectly covered with snow.
When in foggy, be careful to lose trail.
At Komakusadaira
There is 75m snow.
When hiking up, be careful to step through under the snow and fall down.

At Daisan sekkei
All the leaves is falling.
There is about 70m, 140m snow.

At Daiyon sekkei
We conformed many leaves is falling beacause of snow and strong wind.
Most of trail is under the snow.
Hikers need crampons and a pair of gaiters.
Traffic restrictions finished in Ginsendai.

*Don’t hike up in light clothing.
When hiking up mountains, hikers need winter gear.

You need winter gear to hike up mountains.
September 18th at Mt.Kurodake in Daisetuzen it snowed.
And the next day 19th it snowed very much.
And more 20th all the mountains that is 1200m~1300m high in Daisetuzan became perfect snow winter mountains.
Depends on places there are deeper snow than 1m.
20th the lodge keeper in Hakuun lodge closed their lodge, and went down to the foot of mountains.
That’s rare.
It’s very difficult to hike up without snow gear.
Don’t hike up in light clothing.

In the day time the temperature is rising.
Snow is melting.
In the early morning snow is really hard like skate link.
It’s very dangerous.

All the mountains is covered with deep snow. We won’t see beautiful autumn leaves any more.
So we don’t recommend all the hikers hiking up to the mountains.

Kougen onnsen　numameguri course open.

Round trip course in Kougenonsen opened.
This course had been closed by 2016’s big typhoon damage.

After 2016’s typhoon, river water increased, the flow was changed.
River crossing point was difficult to walk.
We put stones in the river and repaired to cross the river.

But for 3 years none walked this trail.
It is not easy to find hiker’s footsteps.
Many rocks are having moss.
It is very slippery.
This course is difficult for beginning hikers.
Hikers need high technic to walk more than round trip to Mt.Kurodake and Mt.Akadake.
Kougen onsen numameguri course is Grade 3 inDaisetuzan hiking grade.
But we think this course is grade 4.
When hikers do round trip, please wear trekking boots.
It’s safe.

*This course is not easy. Please prepare your trekking gear.

This coloring is 20%~30%.

As usual from September 20th will be good time to see.
We hope that it will be good weather.
