Mt. Midori course flowering report

*Mt.Midoridake information
Mt.Midoridake trail that had much snow left has only 20m snow.
In some place the alpine flowers passed their peak.
In Mt.Midoridake from Daiichi kaen to Eikonosawa Primula cuneifolia var. cuneifolia
is blooming now.
In a few days their blooming peak will go to the end,
Hurry up to see them.
Gentiana algida f. igarashii that booms finally in many alpine flowers in Daisetuzan and called”the last starflower” is about to bloom near the Hakuun hut .
Soon they are blooming. But it takes more time to bloom all.
The careworker at Hakuun hut said that some foxes moved around camping site and tried to take hiker’s food.
Please be careful to keep your food.

  • Primula cuneifolia var. cuneifolia : It is peak viewing season.

  • Gentiana algida f. igarashii : Some of the plants are blooming, but there are still many buds.

Near Pon Kurodake 

*Mt.Kurodake northeastern face
Totally the numbers of the flower are decreasing.
Trollius riederianus, Filipendula camtschatica, Cirsium kamtschaticum, Hypericum kamtschaticum are blooming and cover the slope.
*from the top of Mt.Kurodake to Mt.Pon kurodake
We found some flowers withering.
Pennellianthus frutescens, Dicentra peregrina、Dicentra peregrina、Campanula lasiocarpa 
are now best time to see.
*around Ishimuro
near melting snow place Sieversia pentapetala,Phyllodoce caerulea make community.]
in some place fluff spread out. We found some buds near the snow.
We can see flowers in a few days.
*around Kumonodaira
In some part Sieversia pentapetala, Phyllodoce caerulea make community to bloom.
Many place we find fluff spreading out.
*Akaishigawa river
The flow is now calm down and slow.
But the day when it is raining ,be careful to cross the river.
*Mt.Hokuchindake junction
There is still remaining snow on the steap slope of Mt,Hokuchindake.
Every day and night the temperature is low.
The snow is very hard.
Be careful to walk up and down.
*bring your bell and whistle because brown bears are seen here and there.
In case of bad weather the temperature is going down.
Please prepare something warm to wear.
  • Pennellianthus frutescens : The flowers have formed communities and continue to be beautiful; however, some wilting has become noticeable recently.

  • Bryanthus gmelinii : Some wilting can be seen now.
