The flowers of Mt. Kurodake

*All the snow on the trail of north-east slope has melted.

Passing the 8th station, “Trollius riederianus” is blooming here and there.
It expand its community.
From Mt.Kurodake to Kumonodaira you will see 40 kinds of flowers.

Around Mt.Ponkurodake “Campanula lasiocarpa”, Phyllodoce caerulea “”( as shown as a picture1)start blooming.
Around Mt.Kurodake “Filipendula camtschatica”, “Aconitum yamazakii” and “Hypericum kamtschaticum” start blooming.
Flowers and season is going to autumn.

Around Kumonodaira
“Geum pentapetalum” and “Phyllodoce caerulea” expand their communities.
They are so beautiful!
“Phyllodoce aleutica”, “ Primula cuneifolia var.cuneifolia.” and “Potentilla matsumurae Th. Wolf” are blooming here and there.
Both side of trial many flowers are blooming,. It’s like a flower street.
Some of “Geum pentapetalum” have fluffy.

About Akaishi river
Akaishi river’s flow is calm, andmore small amount of water.

About Mt.Hokuchin junction
This slope is better than before, and the length of snow trail course is getting shorter.
When you go down this course, be careful to walk.

*When you stay at Ishimuro and walk long trail, you have to bring your water.
Because there is less water at Kurodake Ishimuro.

Sousenen Numanodaira trail report

Syousenen trail course opened July 4th.(Until September 30th)
This course is one way.
So you cannot go in Yashima junction.
Around Ninonuma (picture above) and Rokunonuma ” Eriophorum vaginatum”is blooming.

Around Yonnonuma there is a snow field (picture below).
You have to cross the steep slope, you have to bring trekking poles not to fall over.
At the bottom of forest area the trail is muddy.
You had better to wear trekking shoes and climbing gator.
There was a foot print of brown bear at the forest road and at Ninonuma.
You must bring a bear bell and a whistle/
Bring back your food packages that wrapped foods.

The flowers of Mt. Kurodake

Mt,Kurodake report

Last report there were 7 areas snow left from 7th station to 8th station.
Now there are only 2 areas snow left around 8th sigh pole.
(Trail condition is getting better)

About flowers
You will see “Weigela middendorffiana” at 8th of Mt.Kurodake.
“Weigela middendorffiana” finish blooming.
Next “Trollius riederianus” spreads blooming.
As you walk to Ishimuro , you will see 25 kinds of flowers.

Around the summit “Therorhodion camtschaticum ” starts blooming.
Between the summit and Mt.Pon kurodake you will see “Patrinia sibirica (L.) Juss.”, “Pennellianthus frutescens” and Dicentra peregrina (Rudolph) Makino”
Mt.Kurodake is like a flower garden.

About Kumonodaira
“Rhododendron aureum Georgi” blooms in big communities.
“Geum pentapetalum” and “Phyllodoce caerulea” spread to bloom.
“:Potentilla matsumurae” and “Primula cuneifolia “ bloom, too.

*Akaishi river
The flow is very calm and slow.
You can cross on the rocks.
After crossing the river, there is high snow wall.
But you can go up snow stairs.
The condition changes every day.
Be well prepare to climb.
*Snow under the Mt.hokuchindake Junction
When going down, be careful. There is still a lot of snow and undulation.
*Wether forecast says it will hot day for a while.
Today was really hot.
But in the morning and at night it is very cool.
When you go up, please take extra care about heat stroke.
( This morning it was 15°c at Kurodake isimuro)
*Brown bears hang around Ohachi daira observatory.
Here is brown bear’s habitat.
Bring your bear bell and a whistle.

About Mt.Akadake trail
Snow is melting slowly.
But you have to walk on snow at Daini kaen and daisan sekkei and Daiyonsekkei.
You had better bring your poles not to fall over.
At Komakusa taira “”Dicentra peregrinablooms beautifully.
At Koizumi daira early blooming flowers like ” Lagotis yesoensis” finished blooming.
And also “Dryas octopetala” finished.
Now “Therorhodion camtschaticum” starts blooming.

Daiichi kaen : around sign 20m snow left Be careful not to step through under the snow.
Daini kaen: all snow
Okunodaira : at the bottom 10m snow at the top 30m snow
Daisan sekkei :middle part of trail 50m has no snow.
Daiyon sekkei: 30 % of top side trail has no snow.
