An information about operating time

Operating time of Visitor Center will change from Jun.

*From Jun to October 8:00~17:30
*From November to May 9:00~17:00 (closing day is every Monday)

From tomorrow we operate from 8:00 to 17:30.
During this period (Jun-October) we have no closing day.


When you visit Sounkyo, please visit Visitor Center.
We are waiting for your visiting.

Today’s Sounkyo gorge
Green color from fresh leaves are deepened further.
“Terpnosia nigricosta” started to cry.
We feel like early summer.
Just now the temperature is 20°c in front of Visitor center.
It’s warm, nice and clear and birds are singing. Today is beautiful day.

This month cover is the wild birds “Cyanoptila cyanomelana””watching cherry blossom”
And the other topics are “Rabbit taking a nap”, the wild bird “Loxia curvirostra” that is very rare bird and so on.

On the foot of the mountains in Sounkyo fresh green season has come.
From now you will see more fresh green trees day by day.
This photo shows waterfall “Hakujya”.
This waterfall is called “phantom waterfall”, because we can see for a limited time.
This waterfall is along route39, and has a signboard.
When you visit Sounkyo, please go and see it.

On foot of the mountains in Sounkyo today’s temperature is 24°c, the hottest in this year.
Snow is melting quickly.
Ishikari river’s amount of water is increasing.
The photo is Mt.Ryouundake, we can see the ridgeline little by little.
But this situation is only highest place and ridgeline.
All trail is under the much snow.
