Fall foliage report for Mt. Kurodake

Mt.Kurodake autumn leaves report

It snowed on Sep 26th for the first time in this year.
Here in Mt,Kurodake it frost and snow, too.
Mt.Hokkaidake and Mt,Ebosidake that are high mountains and the top of Mt.Hokuchindake still have snow.
And also Mt.Ponkurodake and Kumonodaira and trail near the junction of Mt.Hokuchin have snow.

We tell hikers about hiking in September on our homepage.
It is natural it snows in September.
When hikers go up to the top of mountains, it is very dangerous to go in lighting clothes.
Please bring something warm to wear.
And also trails might sometimes be frozen.
When it’s foggy, hikers might get lost.
Please prepare your all gear and make relax plan for hiking.

About autumn leaves
Now is end of September.
“Sorbus matsumurana”that is on the north-west slope of Mt.Kurodake is almost over.
“Hypericum kamtschaticum var. hondoense” is still nice to see.
And more leaves of “Weigela middendorffiana” is beautiful yellow.

Some leaves of “Sorbus matsumurana” that is from the top of Mt.Kurodake to Akaishi river and Kumonodaira are red, the others are orange color.
This summer was extremely hot, so some leaves are burn, and dying.
“Geum pentapetalum” is still beautiful red.
This year’s autumn leaves are good coloring.

But weather forecast says that it will be windy and rainy from October 3rd.
Temperature will be minus or less than 10 °c.
It might snow every day this weekend.
