Mt.Akdake autumn leaves report

Mt.Akadake autumnleaves on September 14th

It was not snow in this morning because of chills.
°The lowest temperature in Hakuun hut in this morning was -2°c.
It was so cold.

We found 10cm frost column near the trail.
Some leaves of ” Sorbus matsumurana” fell because of low temperature and yesterday’s strong wind.

At Daiichi kaen
“Sorbus matsumurana” past their best time.
But they are still beautiful.
“Betula ermanii” is turning yellow.
Overall the view is so good.

At Daini kaen
“Sorbus matsumurana” past their best time.
Some leaves turn brown like iron rust.

At Daisan sekkei
Some leaves of“Sorbus matsumurana” at the top of trail fell down.
Some of them were damaged by frost.
But overall it’s good seeing from distance.

At Daiyon sekkei
Most of leaves of “Sorbus matsumurana” lose their beautiful color.
“Arctous Niedenzu” at the ridge is getting dark black.
This view is like winter.

Hikers can use water at Hakuun Hut.
In the morning and at night this water flow become weak.
At the ridge temperature is less than 10°c in daytime.
In the morning and at night is minus degrees.
Please keep yourself warm and go to mountains.

Mt.Midoridake Autumn leaves

The slope of Mt.Midoridake is best time to see.

Daichi hanabatake and Dainihanabatake
“Sorbus matsumurana” is good time to see.
“Betula ermanii” are coloring a little.
“Geum pentapetalum” is getting their peak color.

“Tasuki autumn leaves” that is seen from rock slope is still good time to see.
At the upper part some leaves are falling.
But overall it is so beautiful and bottom part is more beautiful.

At the ridgeline of Mt,Midoridake “Arctous alpina var. japonica” past their peak.
We found black dying leaves.
Around Hakuun Hut “Sorbus matsumurana” is losing its color.

Fall foliage report for Mt. Kurodake

Mt.Kurodake autumn leaves report

Day by day leaves are becoming beautiful.
It’s good time to see.
But yesterday’s weather was heavy rain and strong wind and the temperature went down. (There were heavy frosts here and there.)
Some “Sorbus matsumurana” lose their color.
But some are very red!
Some are turn orange to red.
It is very beautiful.

“Arctous alpina var. japonica” is still good, but some of them are losing their color.
Some are brown, dying.
“Geum pentapetalum” and “ Salix reinii ” at Kumonodaira are getting better than last post (9/7)
It’s good time to see.

“Betula ermanii”and “Weigela middendorffiana” at the northeast slope of Mt.Kurodake turn yellow.
So seeing from observation deck at 5th station, Mt.Kurodake has yellow leaves and red leaves. It is so beautiful.

*This morning was so cold. When boarding on chair lift and hiking., it is so cold. Please bring something warm to wear like gloves, jacket.
